-If you have concerns about your child's developmental milestones, functional abilities or social skills, ask your child's pediatrician. Your pediatrician can order a "PHYSICAL THERAPY EVALUATION" … It is better to get it checked out as early as possible.
Q: How do I know if my child needs an evaluation?

-An written Physical Therapy Evaluation is required, typically by insurance companies to determine coverage, or physicians who are requesting the assessment. Privately funded assessments, do not require pre-authorization.
Q: How do I initiate a visit?

- Get a prescription from your pediatrician if needed, and provide a copy for your chart
- Get insurance authorization if needed
Q: How do I know if my medical insurance will cover physical therapy?

By calling the phone number on your insurance card, they should be able to provide you with your physical therapy benefits. Good questions to ask are:
- Do I need a prescription?
- How many visits are covered per year?
- Is a physician's order required?

Q: How should I prepare for the first visit?

If possible have a blanket and favorite toys available. Prepare an area that you would like the treatment session to take place, if there are distractions (ie: siblings, TV, phone conversations) your child might not get the full benefit of the session. If it siblings must be present, it typically helps to prepare an activity for them as well.
Q: What are the fees for In-Home Physical Therapy?

The fee for a treatment session is between $150 and $180, for 60 minutes of Physical Therapy. Physical Therapy evaluations are more complex and can cost between$250 - $350.
